Web design Amsterdam

Amsterdam does business in two languages. Your website can too.

Amsterdam is home to around 180 nationalities, and English is a working language in much of the city. International founders, expats and English-speaking companies here face one question early: should the website be in English, in Dutch or in both?

Delta Six is a Dutch agency in Maasdam, about an hour from Amsterdam. For web design Amsterdam businesses can judge first, we build your complete custom website free and show it in a 15-minute online call. You only pay when you're happy.

We build websites for business owners across Amsterdam: Centrum, Jordaan, De Pijp, Oud-Zuid, Zuidas, Oost, West, Noord, Nieuw-West, Zuidoost and Amstelveen.

Business in Amsterdam

Web design Amsterdam: an international city with a Dutch customer base

The Zuidas business district holds law firms, banks and international headquarters. Payment companies Adyen and Mollie are based in the city, Booking.com has its campus in the center, and Schiphol Airport is a short train ride away.

The Netherlands has led the EF English Proficiency Index for years, including the 2024 edition. You can run a company here in English. Your Dutch customers still search, compare and read reviews mostly in Dutch.

We know that mix from our own work. For KYK Catering & Events in Amsterdam we built a site that tells their catering as one evening in four chapters: 18:00 the table, 19:30 the kitchen, 20:30 at the table, 23:00 the party.

It is a scroll film made with their own photos in their wine-red house style, with client logos, figures, team, way of working and reviews on one page.

English and Dutch

English speaking web designer Netherlands: one site, two languages

A bilingual site gives each page a Dutch and an English version on its own address, for example /nl/catering/ and /en/catering/. Each version is written for its reader, with its own title, description and keywords.

Hreflang is a small tag in the page code that tells Google which language version belongs to which reader. With it, a Dutch searcher gets the Dutch page and an expat searching in English gets the English one.

Google's Search Central documentation asks that every language version points to all the others and to itself. We set that up by hand and add a default version for visitors in any other language.

Keyword research happens twice. A Dutch customer types 'cateraar Amsterdam' where an expat types 'caterer Amsterdam'. Each language gets its own research, so both pages match real demand. We hold the showcase in English or Dutch, whichever you prefer.

What your site needs

What a business website needs in the Netherlands: KVK, privacy and iDEAL

Sound web development Amsterdam customers trust covers a few Dutch basics that newcomers often miss.

  1. KVK number on the siteEvery business registers with KVK, the Netherlands Chamber of Commerce. Dutch law asks you to show your business name, address, email, KVK number and VAT ID on your website. We put them in the footer.
  2. Privacy under the AVGThe AVG is the Dutch name for EU GDPR. You need a privacy statement and consent before marketing cookies. The regulator is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, the Dutch Data Protection Authority.
  3. iDEAL for online storesiDEAL is the bank payment most Dutch shoppers choose. Since early 2026 the logo reads iDEAL | Wero, as iDEAL moves into the European wallet Wero through 2027. A Dutch store offers it at checkout.
  4. Trust marks and returnsDutch shoppers look for Thuiswinkel Waarborg or Webshop Keurmerk, and EU law gives consumers 14 days to withdraw from an online purchase. State your return terms clearly.

An ecommerce agency Amsterdam stores rely on builds these in from day one. We build website and online store as one, on our own platform, with checkout texts in Dutch and English.

Found locally

What an SEO company in Amsterdam should do: found per district, in both languages

Amsterdammers search close to home and by district: 'tandarts Oost', 'kapper De Pijp', 'yoga studio Jordaan'. Expats search the same needs in English and often add 'English speaking', as in 'English speaking dentist Amsterdam'.

Give every service its own page per language, and name the districts you truly serve: Centrum, Zuid, Oost, West, Noord, Nieuw-West, Zuidoost or nearby Amstelveen, where many international families live.

A complete Google Business Profile with recent reviews puts you in the map pack, the three businesses Google shows on a map. Reviews in Dutch and English both count, and both reassure the next reader.

Dutch buyers also check Trustpilot, Kiyoh and Klantenvertellen, and Werkspot for trades. An SEO specialist Amsterdam businesses hire today also tests how ChatGPT, Gemini and Google's AI Overviews describe the company. Monthly SEO is standard in our package.

Local habits

Local habits: WhatsApp, Tikkie and plain facts

Dutch customers like a direct line. WhatsApp is a normal way to ask a business a question, so a WhatsApp button and follow-up by WhatsApp and email fit local habits well.

Payment requests through Tikkie, an app from ABN AMRO that sends a payment link, are common for small amounts. Online booking tied to your calendar is expected for salons, clinics, studios and consultants.

Dutch buyers value plain facts over big claims: clear prices or a starting point, real photos, a visible KVK number and honest reviews. A site that says exactly what you do wins trust in both languages.

We work in the same time zone, about an hour from Amsterdam. The showcase is a 15-minute online call at a time that suits you. Say yes and your website is live within two weeks.

Frequently asked questions

Good to know.

Do you build websites in English for companies in Amsterdam?

Yes. We are a Dutch agency in Maasdam, about an hour from Amsterdam. We build your site in English, in Dutch or in both, and hold the showcase online in the language you prefer. You only pay when you're happy.

Should my Amsterdam business have a Dutch or an English website?

Serve Dutch customers in Dutch and international customers in English. With both audiences, a bilingual site with hreflang tags works best: each reader gets the right version and Google ranks each page for its own language.

Do I need a KVK number on my website?

Yes. Businesses in the Netherlands register with KVK and show their business name, address, KVK number and VAT ID on the website. We place these details in the footer of every page.

Can you add iDEAL to my online store?

Yes. iDEAL, now shown as iDEAL | Wero, is the payment method Dutch shoppers expect at checkout. We connect it through a payment provider, next to cards and other methods your customers use.

Have you built a website for an Amsterdam business?

Yes. We built the site of KYK Catering & Events in Amsterdam: a scroll film in four chapters, made with their own photos in their wine-red house style, with client logos, team and reviews on one page.
