What it is

What local SEO services do for your business

Local SEO services help nearby customers find you when they search for a service with a place name, or with the words "near me". Think of "dentist Dublin" or "roof repair near me".

For these searches Google shows two kinds of results. First a map with a short list of businesses, often called the map pack. Below that the regular website results.

You want to appear in both. The map results come from your Google Business Profile, the free listing with your address, hours and reviews. The website results come from your site.

How Google ranks

How Google chooses local results

Google's Business Profile help pages name three factors for local ranking.

  1. RelevanceHow well your profile and website match the search. Complete, specific information about your services raises relevance.
  2. DistanceHow far your business is from the searcher or from the place named in the search.
  3. ProminenceHow well known your business is. Google names review count, review score and your position in web results as inputs.

Distance is fixed by your address. Relevance and prominence are where the work happens, and where a good website makes the difference.

Your profile

Google Business Profile optimization service

A Google Business Profile optimization service makes sure your listing is complete, accurate and active. Google states that businesses with complete and accurate information are easier to match with the right searches.

  1. Verify the businessVerification confirms to Google that you manage this location.
  2. Choose precise categoriesThe primary category should describe your core service as specifically as possible.
  3. Fill in every fieldHours, phone number, website, services, service area and a clear description.
  4. Add real photosYour premises, your team and your work, refreshed regularly.
  5. Reply to every reviewGoogle's help pages advise responding to reviews. It shows you value your customers.

You stay the owner of your profile. You add us as a manager, and we take care of the upkeep.

Your website

Local pages on your website

Your website carries the second half of local visibility. Each service gets its own page. Each town you truly serve can get a page with content that is true for that place.

Your town and region appear in titles, headings and opening lines, written naturally. A page for "kitchen fitter Bristol" names Bristol and shows work done there.

We add LocalBusiness structured data, a Schema.org label that tells search engines your name, address, hours and service area in a format they read directly.

Consistency

The same details everywhere

Your name, address and phone number, often shortened to NAP, should be identical on your website, your Google profile and every directory.

Which directories count depends on your country. Yelp and Apple Business Connect matter in the United States. Yell is common in the United Kingdom, and Yellow Pages in Canada and Australia.

Bing Places feeds Microsoft's search and maps. Apple Business Connect feeds Apple Maps on every iPhone. We list where your business should appear and align the details.

Small differences matter here. "Street" on one listing and "St." on another, an old phone number, a former trading name. Each mismatch makes it harder for a search engine to be sure the listings describe one business.

Moved premises or changed your number? Update your Google profile and your website first, then work through the other listings in one sitting.

Reviews

Reviews: the engine of local trust

Reviews influence both Google and people. A customer comparing three businesses in the map pack looks at the score and the count first.

Most happy customers will leave a review when asked at the right moment. So our websites include review follow-up: after a job, the customer receives a friendly message with a direct link.

Keep it honest. Google's policies require that reviews reflect real experiences, and they prohibit offering rewards for them. Ask every customer in the same way.

For small business

Local SEO for small business owners: what to do first

Local SEO for small business owners works best in a fixed order. These steps give the most result for the least effort.

  1. Claim and complete your Google Business ProfileIt is free and it feeds the map results.
  2. Give each service its own pageWith your town in the title and the first heading.
  3. Align your detailsThe same name, address and phone number everywhere.
  4. Ask for reviews after each jobSteadily, and reply to each one.
  5. Make the site fast on a phoneLocal searches often happen on the go, and Google indexes the mobile version.

Frequently asked questions

Good to know.

What is the difference between SEO and local SEO?

SEO improves your visibility in search in general. Local SEO focuses on searches with a place or "near me", and adds your Google Business Profile, reviews and local listings.

How do I get into the map pack?

Complete and verify your Google Business Profile, choose precise categories, collect genuine reviews and keep your details consistent. Google weighs relevance, distance and prominence.

Do I need a website for local SEO?

A profile alone can appear on Maps. A website adds service pages, proof and booking, and Google counts your position in web results toward prominence.

How long does local SEO take?

Profile improvements can show within weeks. Rankings for website pages build over months, which is why we work on them every month.

I serve customers at their address. Does local SEO work for me?

Yes. A service-area business can hide its address in Google Business Profile and list the areas it serves. Your website then gets pages for those areas.

Can you manage my Google Business Profile from the Netherlands?

Yes. You stay the owner and add us as a manager. Profile management works fully online, from any country.
